It’s never too late to take the next step in faith.
Many parents walk alongside their children in faith formation while quietly feeling called to grow deeper in their own relationship with Christ. For some, that means receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Whether you are an adult who never received Confirmation, someone exploring the Catholic faith, or a teen turning 18 seeking a more adult path of formation, OCIA offers a place to ask questions, grow in faith, and encounter Jesus Christ more deeply.
What Is OCIA?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process through which adults:
Become Catholic
Complete their Sacraments of Initiation
Deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith
St. Mary Magdalene offers both OCIA (English) and OICA (Spanish). This journey includes:
Prayer and reflection
Scripture and Church teaching
Conversation and community
Preparation for receiving the sacraments
Who Is OCIA For?
OCIA may be right for you if you:
Have never been baptized
Were baptized in another Christian tradition and are interested in becoming Catholic
Are Catholic but never received Confirmation or First Holy Communion
Are a teen turning 18 and seeking an adult path toward the sacraments
Simply want to learn more about the Catholic faith
No matter where you are in your journey, you are welcome here. Many parents rediscover their faith while bringing their children to church, preparing for sacraments, or having conversations about God at home. Sometimes the Holy Spirit uses your child’s journey to invite you deeper into your own.
OCIA creates space for adults to:
Ask questions without pressure
Learn and grow at their own pace
Encounter the beauty of the Catholic faith
Take the next step toward the sacraments
