Elementary School (K-5)Faith is not meant to be learned only from a book. It is meant to be lived. Elementary-aged children (ages 5-11) learn by experiencing, imitating and engaging with the world around them.
We believe parents are the primary educators of their children.
Our job – with you – is to help children live their faith, not just learn it. We do this by:
Providing clear, age-appropriate teaching
Participate in guided prayer and reflection
Applying lessons to real-life situations
Kindergarten: God’s Love and His Plan for Me
Children discover the most important truth: God made them out of love and for love. Through stories of creation and God’s promises, they begin to see that they are part of God’s plan and are called to love Him and others.
1st Grade: God’s Love Revealed in Salvation History
From creation to God’s covenant with His people, first graders come to know God as a loving and faithful Father. They see how God prepares the world for Jesus and invites each of us into a relationship with Him.
2nd Grade: Encountering Jesus in the Sacraments
Second grade answers the question: How does Jesus save us and remain with us? Students learn about sin, salvation, and God’s plan fulfilled in Jesus – especially through the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
3rd Grade: Living in God’s Grace
In third grade, children explore: What does it mean to live in friendship with God? They come to see how, through grace, the Holy Spirit, and the Church, they are invited into communion with God and strengthened to live lives of virtue and love.
4th Grade: What We Believe as Catholics
Fourth grade focuses on: What do we believe and why? Students deepen their understanding of the Creed, discovering who God is, what He has revealed, and how faith and reason work together to guide us in truth.
5th Grade: Worship, Sacraments, and Life in Christ
In fifth grade, students ask: How do we worship God and live as His people? They explore the meaning of the liturgy and the sacraments – especially how Christ is truly present – and how we are called to respond through lives of holiness, justice, and service.
