Little Margaret (Adaptive Learning)Little Margaret’s exists to ensure that children with diverse learning needs have full access to the life of the Church, including meaningful preparation for the Sacraments.
Little Margaret is a monthly program that serves children who are:
7 years old or older
Have a diagnosed intellectual/developmental disability or learning impediment
Are unable to participate in a typical catechesis program
This program is not a drop-off experience. While children attend class, parents attend a coaching session to enliven and enrich their own faith.
We work with families to:
Discern readiness
Provide individualized preparation
Ensure each child can meaningfully receive the Sacraments
The Story Behind the Name
Little Margaret’s is named after Margaret of Castello, a saint who, despite being born with disabilities and rejected by the world, lived a life of deep faith, joy, and holiness. She was welcomed by the Church and became a witness to the truth that every person – no matter their abilities – is loved by God and called to sainthood.
Her life reminds us that no one is excluded from the grace of God or the life of the Church. In her spirit, Little Margaret seeks to ensure that every child is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to encounter Christ.
The Little Margaret program was born from one family’s desire to belong. When Monica Herber saw that her son, Caiden, needed help, she helped create the Little Margaret program so that her son, and others like him, could fully encounter Christ and the sacraments. Today, the ministry serves nearly 15 children.
